Get some new collars ;-)

Thanks for that SS, very informative read there. I came across collars you had made for the Ortovox D1 and I have to say they did look a neat job.

That was the appeal of the Ortovox transmitter, simple, tough and reliable ... Until the thickos got hold of them and started putting 12v camera batteries in them

First I've heard about trouble with the rechargeables what's the renowned problem.with them?

I know two different guys that the collars wouldn't hold the charge or charge and have just been told by another man on here, had the same problem. A fella I do a bit with bought the new collar and box and had nothing but problems with it sent it back, still wasn't right and sold it on for £100.

I wouldn't say that. The other guy offered him £100 for the setup knowing fine well the story behind it (it wouldn't have been 6 month old) and was given all the paperwork to go with it. So it was up to the individuals themselves.

Also I don't know any men that would be niave enough to buy a new red box and rechargeable collar with charger for £100 before quering why the owner would take so little for it. Maybe you do but I certainly don't. Easy to jump to conclusions at times.

a box and.collar 6 month old with paper work worth 380 sold for.100 why not.just send back to bellman and get replacements ther still.coverd by warranty lol

He told me he got pissed off with the whole scenario and the box wouldn't t change from feet to metres I can't remember all the ins and outs. Eitherway he passed it on and continued using his old setup. He's on here if anyone wants to query him, I'm not the one making a big fuss about it. Send me a pm and I'll give you his username if it bothers yous that much. Edited by THE GENERAL

From how you told it, I took it you meant the Collar was sold on. These sorts of flippent comments...."still wasn't right and sold it on for £100" may seem trivial to some, but says a lot to me. You have explained, making things clearer, cheers and I apologise for taking the thread off course. What about coating the case in resin or making a Fibreglass copy, using the old case as the Mould?

No worries Shamo I understand where you are coming from I should have worded it better. Didn't think I needed to go into detail so by not doing so it did draw a different picture. I'm planning on visiting that firm that was mentioned in an above post to see if they can make something up. Some part of the case will need to be clear to see that the collar is on and low battery light. Some amount of hassle over nothing lol.

Rang Maplin there and the answer was "No". They don't make boxes on request to specific specifications so unless there is one suitable on their site ( which I can't find ) then they cannot help. I did find this though, didn't check the dimensions but would say they have one to fit the old knockerbox, pity only 10+ years too late for most lol. It's about 11 down.

With the b+f rechargeable your better of sending it back to them every 12 months and having the batteries replaced and refurb for £20 that's why it only has a 12 month warranty because of the batteries she did explain about keeping them fully charged when not in use for long periods

ALWAYS STORE RE-CHARGEABLES FULLY CHARGED, AFTER BEING ALLOWED TO FULLY DISCHARGE...................Not doing effects the Battery life, even Lithium ones, I was told by a Battery specialists.

I think the problem is that lots of lads think charging the collar for an hour here and an hour there will be enough but it isn't, batteries don't work like that. For long life they need to be run down totally flat and then given a good full charge and there should be no problems.

I agree with rabbit hunter. I have seen lad's dropping there box and collar in the charger and taking them out an putting them back in again. Each time you do this it f ucks up the battery a bit more each time. Once you put them on charge don't break the cycle and take them off charge when there full.
