terryd 8,754
Not seen the sheep for a while so thought we would brush up today. Things have improved lot since a friend said to me that dog doesn't know how to act around sheep and I need to trust him and I think he was bang on. He made a few mistakes as a pup so I then spent nearly every day showing him sheep and marching him through them and giving him a bollocking for even looking in the direction. The end result was he got stressed to hell every time he saw one and didn't know what to do for the best. But now I rarely go looking for them and when I do see them I completely blank them and so does he.His not fully tested off the lead but confidence is high The long line here is not to protect the sheep but the rabbits in the boundary hedge row. If he had been off lead he would have been around the other side in a jiffy where I don't have permission and its in front of the farm bungalow and the field is full of his own sheep so I couldn't risk that. Some days I think christ this dog is just too much for me lol and others like today he doesn't put a foot wrong and his superb some body at home thought he would take a present home for the wife she wasn't impressed and started talking about soap and stuff Edited June 6, 2015 by terryd 2 Quote Link to post
