richie 1
Yeh, sorry maybe I wasnt specific enough in my Post.(First Topic Starter.) She has been getting worse and worse, biting, for the last month. At start I gave her extra handeling, I tried everything I could. All my ferrets are fed on a mix of Meat, and some dry food. They all live in a Courtyard design, with a large run of shed and side bit. The last straw was really when it bit my Dad very nastily on the finger, taking off half of his finger litteraly. It was more his desision than mine, seen as he helps alot with them. It wasnt an easy desision. But a needed one in my situation. personally alex, i would of just let her go free than top her... That really would be a stupid thing to do . Alex for what its worth i think you have done the right thing . If you have been putting the extra effort in and still getting nailed then what you have done is the correct thing to do . Some will not agree but that is tough . There comes a time when putting a animal down is the best thing to do . Better going to rainbow bridge than getting passed from pillar to post . Quote Link to post
Hob&Jill 258
I personally dont have much time for a biting ferret. Personally I end it with a .22 rather than knock it on the head... As for releasing it Would either starve, get killed by a Fox, Cat or Dog or go and raid someones poulty........yeh......great idea Quote Link to post

boris b 1
Because its not a wild animal , It would not be as clued up as a polecat . A situation were it thought it was safe would more than likely end in death . Quote Link to post

Kay 3,709
Is it not illegal to loose them? Quote Link to post
farmer-alex 0
I think it is illegal to release them yeeh.. Cos theyre not exactly a Native Wild Breed. haha. Quote Link to post
vec150 0
I have 9 ferrets and 1 of them is a land shark, a very small Jill which will go straight for the hand the minute you open the cage. She is last years litter, her sister is housed with her and is an ANGEL. 12 years of ferret ownership and im now stumped. I wouldnt consider 'knocking it on the head' or releasing it to certain death she is just handled with extreme caution Quote Link to post
kurgan 5
All the ferrets i've ever had have been cast offs or ones found in the field ,'i've never breed ferrets as i,ve all ways had mistreated or 'feral' given to me, when the jills are feeling horney i allways get a few hobs strolling in the garden .Time and effort thats all it takes ,ive had some right nasty ones but they allways come round ,okay i wouldnt let the kids handle them but there good with me.May be i should start my own tv show 'The ferret whisperer'. MikeTheDog 153
Jeez!...Aint read so much crap for ages! What cruel b*****d would release a domestic animal into the wild just to wander aimlessly about waiting for starvation and death!... Any ferret owner should know a domestic ferret can't fend for itself. If you can't cope with the ferret then do the right thing...fecking wankers!!!...Comments not directed at all, just the fecking numpties.. Quote Link to post
