I'm going to the Highlands in August, beautiful countryside and great hospitality. The kids want to go up Ben Nevis and see Loch Ness, so should be a good trip.

Ended up booking into The Quiet Site near Ulswater for the start of August. Thanks for the suggestion B.R. Looks like a cracking area and with a pub on site for the evening it's got everything we wa

Cracking stuff, I must admit I've fell in love with Scotland. The scenery and scale of it is breathtaking. We may call into the lake district on the way there or back and climb Scafell Pike, then the k

Nope never been to the lake district, the missus did mention about going up there one day.

Any parts in particular that you would recommend?

We've done most of Cornwall so fancy somewhere different.

I can recomend the 'quiet site' in the Lakes.

Got a great dog friendly pub on site, full of hunting stuff.

Apparently nothing has changed in there for 30 odd years!

We were the first in and last out every night, lol..

Bloke behind the bar is a font of knowlage for the area.

Decent base, easily see all of the Lake districk from there.

Well worth a visit if you've not been before, ?

I can vouch for that mate, The Quiet Site is great, been going there for years and the bar there is fantastic

Never tried central Scotland. I'll keep that in mind for next year. What's the midges like there? When we were at Fort William they were terrible.

David, that's only about 35 miles from me. We regularly head to that part of the coast around Weymouth. It's great for walking and loads for the nipper to do too.

Midgies are bad now, I did a double shift on Mentieth Friday night and early shift on Saturday....friday night was horrendous, if the boat drifted too close to the shore we got eaten alive....great fishing though, best sessions I have had......
