Walking up to my aviary earlier a couple of birds caught my eye flapping around in a tree close by......on closer inspection my heart sank when i saw they were Goldfinches as i thought my own birds had somehow escaped.....but mine were in place and i realised these two wild ones were probably flirting with my own birds as after a few years now of trying to attract wild Goldies onto my garden feeders ive never seen one until today..

Probably a bit of a boring meaningless story for some of yous but a good little experience for me so thought id share it with the group

Im not sure they are nesting i think they probably heard my birds and recognised the sound as their own type and just came for a bit of a gander.....my birds were acting all excited for a while so there was some sort of coming together .....i dont know maybe im wrong its just like i say after a few years trying to attract them onto my feeders with no joy i wondered if my birds singing had lured them in ?

Your birds lured them in some of the old bird catchers i knew always used call birds to lure other birds in.

I've got a pair nesting in a tree at the back of my house, singing his head of all day.

I see more goldfinches than any other birds around my area and very rairly see or hear a greenfinch the complete opposite to when I was a kid
