Gin 498
If anyone was to see a ghost, it would be naked, as the body dies, not what he or she was wearing.

The other told by my mum is just too fcuking mental to even begin to explain, a kind of supernatural experience I can't even begin to get my head round haha.....if she told me it now, I'd think it was senility setting in haha I'm spooking myself now :-)

walshie 2,804
I find it difficult to rationalise when someone is credible that you know & trust, tells you their experience. Your left thinking 'can this person really be bullshitting me?' I don't think for a minute they're bullshitting you or even trying to. They are telling you what they believe they saw. What they ACTUALLY saw may be something completely different. Yeh I know what you mean........I've been told a good few obviously, like everyone else has, but a couple that stick out told by a close friend & one by a family member really got me thinking........the kind of thing which can't really be mistaken, like I've never really seen anything I couldn't really explain, have you? No. Never seen anything, but I think you have to be "susceptible" to the sort of thing IMO.

Gaz_1989 9,539
I was looking around at a fisheries once with my old man. A black lab came running out of the big manor house with the care taker and ran up to us wagging his tail, he ran towards us like he wanted a fuss but then ran straight passed us and into the woods. I thought nothing of it at the time. We joined up and fished there a lot that year. One day when the guy from the manor house came around I asked him where the dog was. And he said I haven't got a dog, dogs haven't been allowed on the premises since the owners black lab passed away in 1975.
Gaz_1989 9,539
Another time my mate was at the same fisheries with his brother. Night fishing. They were just stood by the lake in the pitch black having a beer when something came running at them from behind. It got louder and ran straight passed them both and into the water. My mate put his headtorch on and you could see the water splashing as something ran across the surface. It ran about 30 metres out and then ran back to the bank side. There was nothing there. It ran passed them both, they felt the water splashed onto them and it ran up the bank towards where it came from. More than once there have been occasions when blokes left their bivvy and tackle at the lake and went home in the middle of the night. It's a spooky place.

beast 1,884
Very interesting subject. First let me say I have no belief in e supernatural, ghosts etc are a load of old bollokcs in my opinion. BUT........ I have seen some strange things, very strange, in quiet dark places, I believe it is some sort of ancestral memory when we are alone in the woods at night And like people have already said, people very close to me have told me things which I find it very hard to explain My mum and dad have both said that when we were kids and all out at school they would hear kids running about playing in the empty rooms upstairs. Dad would sometimes rush upstairs to see what was going on but it would instantly go silent. My mum now lives in a fairly isolated farmhouse, apparently the old farmer many years ago hung himself upstairs, and mum has for years heard steps and had all manner of things moved about or switched off etc in the house. Well a few months ago she was looking out of the back door and a little old chap walked up the garden and into the old stable block. The dogs all raced down after him screaming their heads off so she ran down, only about 20 yards from the back door because she thought they would set upon him, but of course you've guessed it there was nobody in the stable, no other doors either. Very very odd, and I do not doubt for one minute that mum saw an old man in her garden and the dogs did too, but what the hell actually happened I do not know I have others, all told by honest people in good faith, and terribly difficult to explain Edited May 31, 2015 by beast
Bosun11 537
I don't believe, i have no direct reason to believe but a good friend of mine once seen something he's never been able to explain... Ste is, in my and other opinion, a bit of a hunting legend in this city. Older than me, he has done and seen the lot, with a few tales that really should go down in print. Now a brook runs near to my village down to the river Alt. It runs alongside a very old pub, which stands next to the oldest used building in the north west, Sefton Church, built by the Molyneux's, the Earls of Sefton. It's an area that is ancient and full of history. Over that brook, as it runs next to the Church, there is a bridge of sorts, built out of huge timbers, half decayed and awkward to cross, it's the route i've taken to my local hunting grounds almost all my life. Now my friend Ste is a realist, he's lived a life less ordinary for sure and really doesn't suffer fools or bullshine but he tells a tale of that old bridge that he's never been able to explain. It was late one December day, light just starting to fade and a younger Ste was heading out to the fields beyond the pub, beside the river Alt. Dogs fit and keen, the world was good. He got to the bridge and looked at its old twisted timbers. The terriers raced over, easily managing the uneven surface, twisted position and slippery surface. Then his lurchers stalled a bit, they thought about it for a split second (as some lurchers are apt to do) before making an awkward, ungraceful and tentative crossing. Ste was last to cross, he'd crossed it a million times and knew which foot where would guide him. First foot on the lower plank, second foot higher, only four steps to the grass on the other side but before he took that third step something made him look to his right. And there down the cut where three young children playing in the stream. He said that they were looking down into the water, they were carrying small poles, barefoot, a girl and two boys. Giggling and oblivious to him, as engrossed kids are apt to be. So he looked and carried on, finding his next two foot placements and then the grass on the other side. In the instinctive second, when you've been distracted, it takes to check your dogs, Ste says a feeling of almost mortal dred came upon him. Stopping him dead. Something about those kids was wrong. He walked quickly back to the bridge and looked down the stream. There were no children. He turned the other way, nothing! Ste looked all along that bank as dusk fell to dark but those kids were gone... He says if he thinks back hard, they wernt dressed as of today but a long time ago and dressed for the summer, with the girl in a straw hat and the boys in shirts with trousers rolled up. Though he's never believed, he's never been able understand what he seen on the bridge that day... Edited May 31, 2015 by Bosun11
