Coypu Hunter 486
Need a bit more info than that! Calibre? Ammo? Range? Scope? Edited May 31, 2015 by Coypu Hunter Quote Link to post
Cedric 132
A cheap and cheerful solution could be to place a thin "shim" under the rear scope mount to raise it a little. More complicated solutions include moving the scope mounts around, swap front to back or try different mounts. By "under the mount" I mean under the scope where it sits in the mount. andyf 144
Bet the scope mount is too high, if you've run out of adjustment. You should run the turrets fully one way then back, and count the turns, then set the adjustment at mid point, then start from there. Also as a general point the object bell (large end) of the scope should be as near the barrel as possible and I mean 'near' 1mm is plenty. Long range specialists use MOA slanted rails to mount the scope 'uphill' so as to enable the elevation to max out at ridiculous hold overs, but that's not you. Fit low mounts, or get a new scope. Tremo 138
What make of mounts are you using? An inch low at what distance? Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
What make of mounts are you using? An inch low at what distance? ...and what ammo are you using? Something seems a tad strange here! Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
It's a decent scope and shims should sort the height out, but no more left adjustment? If it was me I'd try it with a different set of mounts as my first step then take it from there. Quote Link to post
Skull Hooker 185
Nip down the gunsmiths and get a set of higher rings. That 8x56 Docter is a scope worth keeping. Quote Link to post

Unless I have misunderstood it, I get the impression he has run out of height adjustment, not Left. ...and maybe worth a try reversing the mounts he has. We still appear to be waiting for him to advise the distance he is zeroing, etc. Seems strange ...but I had a Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x50 a while back, the best elevation I could get was 3 feet LOW at 600 yards with my .243, it was returned as not fit for purpose! Yep. My bad. I thought it read no more left click. That'll teach me not to speed read. Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,100
If he wants to shoot out to silly paper ranges hell need a better scope anyway .sounds like scopes f****d to me . Quote Link to post
jacknife 2,005
Do these scopes have something like a bullet drop compensator Will the turret just do one full 360 degree turn Quote Link to post
martin 332
The first thing I would do is wind all the way until it stops and then count every click back the other way then half that number and click back so you then know where you are and that is exactly half way through the adjustment, then bore scope it and start again with the adjustments.
