Alsone 789
No see 6.21 of the Firearms Guidelines. He has to be 17. The definition of "Occupier" is also a slightly grey area and if planning on using this exemption with someone older, I'd check with my force, preferably in writing. If they won't give you an answer, submit the question as a Freedom of Information request. Best choice for your son atm would be a rifle club. Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
When he has his firearms certificate, then your rifles can be entered on there as "shared" guns and then he can use them, unaccompanied with your consent. Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,100
If you have the ticket you take out anybody of any age to use your rifle as long as you are there right by him Quote Link to post

Alsone 789
So was I as I always thought the age limit was fourteen or something like that but from memory, the age limit also appears to be the same for shotguns. I wondered if it was changed quietly? Quote Link to post

CharlieT 32
I'm glad you posted that A . . It's news to me as well , I presume that includes shotguns as well .. No, different rules for shotguns. The borrower may be any age but under 15's must be accompanied by someone over 21 and under 18's must be accompanied by someone over 18. 2 Quote Link to post
