Wheres Matt ? (These Days) Lol

Recommended Posts

We're just back from the Alsace region. Nice, but not as good as Yorkshire

I drove the camper up to the top of one of the mountain passes, 1200 metres uphill, third gear all the way, and when we stopped at the top the first thing I found was a bloody molehill

Funny enough we drove the van up a couple of those mountains, as you say get out mole hills everywhere?

Those gamme verte are very interesting! Lots of traps, hunting gear etc, unfortunately the wife came in with me and found stuff she can't in the UK, that got expensive!!!

Shame Shropshire mole didn't tell us we were meeting up for you to sell me traps, I wouldn't have needed to go in there. Lol.

Good trip, can't wait to be back in September.

I'll keep 25 on one side and let you know when and where they will be once plans are finalised.   If anyone else wants any please let me know by PM and I'll try and accommodate you. I need plenty of

and i hate 'goodbyes', too,...lol

the only problem is as a Yorkshire man the ten pound delivery charge makes my wallet hurt !!! and if you spend £100-00 pound its free delivery and ten pounds worth of traps extra. iwm

Our local Gamme Vert does genuine Talpex at €9.95. That is £7.24 at today's exchange rate and compared to £9.49 at Ratbait. I've bought a dozen just in case I ever get to learn how to set them

When you get around to using the Putanges my tip is to secure the trigger to the trap using some thin twine. I use 80lb fishing braid because I've got loads lying around, but builder's twine is fine. Fasten the trigger in the middle of the side opposite the gap then set the trap so the trigger is about 20 - 25mm from the jaws, gap side between the jaws. Taking the other end of the twine, loosely tie a granny knot in the eye of the trap and gently pull it tight so the twine is running in a straight line from the eye of the trap to the top of the trigger. Then secure the knot properly without pulling it any tighter or slacker. That way when you set the trap you can slide it in, prongs up and the trigger won't lean forward towards the jaws as happens if the trigger isn't retained by the twine. Saves a lot of time when placing them. ;)

That's really helpful np, I was wondering about how far in to set the trigger, already attached my triggers using fishing line and crimps, but not as you said, so I'll take them apart and do again using braid, and to the correct length. (Why didn't I think of that), oh yes, because I didn't know where to put the trigger.
