Squirrel Feeder

Recommended Posts

I'm doing loads of squirrel shooting at the moment and I try a variety of 'mixes'.

Things that work well, Peanuts, Monkey nuts, Almonds, even peanut butter (for the smell), Pine nuts, Hazelnut and Walnut kernals, blackheart seeds. You can get special peanut butter (no salt, no sugar) for red squirrels. But if they're are no reds about to help support, the greys will take it.

Nuts in shells mean the tree rat will stay there and unpack it for longer in his little squat pose.....just long enough to squeeze a shot off....

Had three in fairly quick session then it dried up. Topped the feeder up and will return and check it later in the week. If the level is down I will shoot it again if not being used I will move onto another hopper which is being used. I use four hoppers moving one of them to a new site from time to time and hit them when the squirrels are feeding heavily.
