I usually seal the ends with wood glue at the very least and set em aside for at least a year ,though i've heard of using a microwave to dry em out as well i never went for that ,a wood stove with the item suspended above would be more to my likeing ,or even over a heater ,a fairly closed up car or other vehicle can dry wood an other such items out quite fast also if used in the summer .

Not bothered if it's slow won't be making out out of it any time soon

Cut the fork over-size, seal the ends with wax and just leave it hanging in the shed. You need it to try naturally, ideally, but you can use microwaves etc if you're impatient.
