The Dog Factory

Anyone watching it? Havent seen it all but bloody hell. 100s of dogs being kept in shit conditions just to be bred. I wouldnt be able to do something like that just aint got it in me. Wonder how people manage to do it gotta be pretty heartless imo. I also think its wrong when idiots just breed dogs purely for profit. Bird two doors away has bred her dog 4 times back to back. Havent seen her walk the dogs that many times ffs. She must know i find it wrong because she kept quiet about this latest litter. Her daughter let it slip though. Long as people are blinded by a cute puppy infront of em itll continue i guess.

spot on mate, just watched with my wife, and we both said the same as you. who in the right mind buys a fookin puppy (without) seeing 1, parents, 2nd where its kept, . the people who buy the pups from places like on the program , are as near bad as the breeders who breed+sell them . I ve only bred 1 litter that was bullmastiffs , I had both sire/dam at my house , had 10 pups every one was bought at my house. I only bred the litter as my dog won crufts best male of breed , and wanted to keep his line going, he only went to 3 more bitches after ., that was enough for me with breeding ped dogs , and what you hear of in the lurcher world not much better with some people

Nice to see that new Welsh breeding regulations to combat puppy farming take special account of pack dogs.....(press release from CA)

"Thanks to the hard work of our Director for Wales, Rachel Evans, supported by our political team, new dog breeding regulations in Wales include recognition for the way in which working dogs are kept. The regulations are new guidance for local authorities who will grant licences under new dog breeding regulations.

The new regulations have been brought in to help combat puppy farming. They are wide ranging and cover accommodation and environment, diet and nutrition, normal behaviour (which includes the socialisation of puppies) and health and welfare, and includes special mention of gundogs and hunt kennels.

As part of the process for putting these regulations together, Rachel arranged for Government officials to attend hunt kennels so that they were able to witness at first-hand the unique situation of hounds kept as packs.

The guidance states “It should be borne in mind that some dogs, such as working gundogs due to their type and nature may be kept in accommodation other than that which is laid out in the guidance. Each individual situation should be considered on its own merits. Hounds kept at hunt kennels are pack animals and therefore should be housed together”.

The regulations cover those breeders who produce more than two litters of puppies in a 12-month period and most of our members, whether breeding gundogs or hounds, are unlikely to be affected. However, for those who are, there is now a mechanism in place for recognising the ways gundogs are kept and the unique situation of hunting hounds kept as packs.

It is extremely encouraging that the Countryside Alliance's work has contributed to the guidance and that local authorities will be well versed in the specific needs and care working dogs require. The regulations are now in place and Rachel's input is an excellent example of how our lobbying operation can make a difference on behalf of you, our membership."

Never seen it, really didnt want to watch. Thing is though, they can show what they like, dogs are high fashion and big business and nothing will stop that wheel turning.

I'd just like to think that lurcher folk have a long hard think before taking the plunge to breed. It may only be the one litter but it's just adding to the problem.

Ask yourself, if I breed, am I really gonna get improved stock, are they the best I can get my hands on, or could I buy in better?

Bosun if only people thought like that. Aim of any breeding should be to better the next generation. Saddly everyone thinks their dogs the best or just thinks why not could do with a few quid. Some of the people who are the sort of scum who breed dogs purely for money are also the nicest people youd meet. Its almost as if they see no wrong in it or something.

Next door neighbour but one doing exactly that. Border collies. Noisy as hell and nasty, proper nasty. Heard the other day that they are going to breed German Shepherds next. As already mentioned, these people are never seen walking their dogs. Strange.

true on both accounts  , and yet when you think about lurcers are a cheap type of dog to buy, a x bred dog say 150£ cheep ,compared to a ped rottie, gsd, dane deerhound, bullmastiff etc, all these will knock a hole in your pocket up to 1500 £quid . the only working dogs that hold a top price are gun dogs and coursing dogs, which are in near pure form now gens of breeding, but your lurcher/ terrier are still cheap compared to the above breeds I reckon , and people moan about paying 150£ sometimes for a lurcher from proven working parents, from people that work there dogs , feck it buy a pup in from the right people/kennel its easier than breeding lol
