trigger_cairns 3
I am fairly new to air rifles and own an smk xs38. I love tthis rifle. But I want to try a co2 rifle and had my eyes on the new xs501, I spoke to someone from sportsguns.Co.UK who told me he has had o lot of them returned as faulty. Being a new release this could be teething troubles but advised me on the xs78. This is the first time using this forum and I hope to continue using this as I enjoy hunting and air rifles and would like to be able to share my experience with others and also learn from you guys and share some of your knowledge. Any thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards trigger Quote Link to post
Rez 4,961
My two pence is leave them canisters behind man. Without offence there very much for the younger audience getting into air rifles. What's makes you not jump on the PCP route? Nice one. As an edit. Nice avatar... All loved up 1 Quote Link to post
Coypu Hunter 486
If you're looking for a hunting rifle, look at a springer or a PCP. I've owned CO2 rifles, and they're great when the weather's warm, or if you're just target-shooting. They're also usable in stable environments -- for example, if you're shooting in the same indoor environment each time (chicken shed, etc.). The power drops off as the temperature drops, though, so you'd have to re-zero before each outdoor hunting session, just to be on the safe side. Edited May 16, 2015 by Coypu Hunter Quote Link to post
mark williams 7,554
Hi Trigger, (love that name ), as already said, leave co2 in the shop and get pcp, or good quality springer. "Welcome to the forum Sir" Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Of course you could go the best of both worlds situation and invest in an XS79 and a regulated air bottle. But then you would need to invest in a chrono to set it up properly. Or spend a little more and buy a nice new Hatsan AT44 with 2 magazines.... But it is the time of year when CO2 is less likely to be affected by temperature shift, so buying an XS79 means the OP could have a summer of shooting CO2, saving up for the regulated air bottle, a chrono and either a pump or a bottle, make the change over say October and be fully PCP set up by winter... trigger_cairns 3
Well I ended up investing in a xs79. In the hope of converting it after I've had a bit more handling time with it. So if anyone has any sights or links that could guide me through the process that would be most appreciated. Kind regards Quote Link to post

trigger_cairns 3
I got the. 22 can't get over how accurate it is, light and comfortable. I wasn't too keen on the 88g co2 bottle sticking out the stock but it's really surprised me. Quote Link to post
