pointer 543
I'm not sure how many mines dropped as she shreds her old feathers. I haven't seen her do it yet but if I don't get them out quickly she must like playing with them lol. I don't give it much thought and apart from looking in on her twice a day and chucking food through the chute with an occasional rough clean of her aviary I don't think about her in the summer. She will be hunting by the beginning of September that's for certain so it's not long now. Quote Link to post

Quite enjoying the break at the minute haha. Won't be long though before I get the itch to get out there 1 Quote Link to post
walnutwhip 12
I was never any good at math lol, I'm sure every bodies hawk will be ready for September. I'm looking forward to it and my young pointer should be ready to start working. The dog looks great raring to go!! My Gos had a poor moult last year but perfectly healthy put it down to a move of house and settling in - decided to change my approach and have more contact with him by feeding him mixture chick, phesy, rabbit, ox heart and beef with the addition of some pup rat things have gone well and he looks well. But our neighbour started building an extension got no problem with that but right at the start of the moult as much noise as you can imagine... Thankfully moving him into my garage almost daily has not really upset his moult and can only contribute this to the lower weight than previous year [able to handle him] and the diet also a bird light that was provided for him hopefully to help him along this year! Bird does not bounce of the walls of the mews when overweight... Edited June 14, 2015 by walnutwhip 2 Quote Link to post
pointer 543
I've just got back from holiday and my hawk has dropped a load of feathers after having a slow moult. Got to say this summer is flying over and I haven't had time to do half the things I wanted to in the off season, a few fish have been hooked though lol Quote Link to post
