My Dads Old Dog

Wat were it crossed with mate remember seeing dogs similar in the 80s bred by a chap from penistone that were deerhound/greys cross collie/greys.

Im from penistone and never heard of anything bred that way. Not the first time penistones been mentioned on here recently. Its a shame there isnt many about. Do you know who the chap was?

There were some good uns about of that type of breeding when I was a lad in the 60 and 70's I can remember dreaming of owning one as I mooched about with my little collie whippet. I got one in the end and had some good times with it, a good all-round lurcher, perhaps not a master at one thing but more than competent at all quarry, more so bigger stuff.

Sorry i dont mate i knew a few people though who had this type of him in the 80s and they were very good dogs the best one i saw run was a bitch called molly who was owned by the chap who had a dog called blue out of the first litter hancock bred to plummers merle.

I personally still think this type is probably the best allround dog, especially on the lamp. Speed, stamina, good feet, tough, agile, intelligent and generally a very good coat, whether smooth or rough :thumbs:

looks like that big brindle dog Lynchy had in the mid 80s ..deerhound/collie/grey type... they were the best types around at that point in time....The them bloody Desert dogs came along and threw a spanner in the works..And dont get me started on the bullx brigade...heheeee.

 

What dog are you mooching with these days ?
