B.L.B 0
Hi all, my dads gwpxstaghound is having a phantom pregnancy, she won't come out of her kennel and is treating an old shoe like its a pup. We haven't had a dog do this before and i was wondering what to do. Should i take the shoe of her or not? She has been like this for about three days now. Any helpfull advice would be great. Thanks. skycat 6,173
Just treat her as normally as possible without distressing her, in other words leave her shoe with her but try and get her out for a walk and interested in other things. It will pass, though the more you pander to her the worse she'll be. Is she a hunting dog? If so, then try and get her out to hunt something and distract her from her 'shoe pup'. I don't know if you can get the stuff where you are but Raspberry Leaf tablets help with phantom pregnancies: the same stuff pregnant women take for an easy labour. It help the uterus contract. The only thing is that you need to start giving a bitch the tabs when she comes in season and continue giving them all through the imaginary pregnancy and until the imaginary pups are about a month old. It does work, but you need to remember to give them every day. this is the company who make them over here in the UK: I'd imagine they'd send them abroad if asked.http://www.dorwest.com/ Quote Link to post
