I fear it may already be too late for the kid, it's a tough business and even if he stops now is condition will almost certainly get worse as he ages. Taking blows to the head isn't good for you at all, funny though how some fighters like Chuvalo, Foreman and other older fighters are fine and show no signs of brain damage yet other fighters are badly affected.

Absolutely.....its different for all fighters but i think when you see it you cant ignore it and i see it with Kevin even before this fight........i can only speak for fighters ive known but i remember seeing the same with locals like Mark Kaylor,Jimmy Batten etc not particularly hard careers but everyone has their tolerance level......to see and listen to them now is so sad.

It amazes me how boxing fans these days have absolutely no loyalty whatsoever to their countrymen.....i cant for the life of me understand how any British boxing fan would not be hoping Joshua reaches

I hope he retires(Mitchell) ..but a lot of fighters go on too long..For me when I guy fights his way to 3 world title shots they shouldn't have to fight on too long...They don't get paid enough for the risks they take..

Speaking of Joshua, he's definitely looking the business. At the minute he's looking better technically than Lennox Lewis did at the same point in his career, although I think Lewis did win the European title in his 14th bout and beat Gary Mason for British title in his 15th fight. Slowly slowly catchy monkey...

The most exciting thing about big Josh for me is nothing to do with his physical power.....its his attitude and desire, the boy soaks up information like a sponge Tony Simms says he is a dream to train......he has tremendous athletic intelligence which is rare amongst heavyweights........the fact he is improving with every fight indicates that he is being moved along at the right pace, the matchmaking is good......and most importantly the kid is learning from everything he does.......everybody who is anybody within the sport feels he,s an exciting prospect......why anyone outside the sport or the casual fight fan wouldnt see him as an exciting prospect....i say again,is beyond me !

do you think gnash, that he better than Lewis / Bruno ,? I know he only just starting out , but looking at him, to me he looks a lot more agile/loose than Bruno ever looked, and I think faster hands than Lewis , but with the same power or more than Lewis . as said in know it still early, but watching him fight I think he looks better than the 2 above , and prob would have give Tyson a good fight in his day .

At the stage he is at he's looking better than Lewis did at the same point in his career, he's also much bigger than Lewis was at the same age. Lewis improved drastically under the tutelage of Manny Steward, Joshua would have been awesome with Steward's guidance, that's of course if he hasn't got a glass jaw that will be tested at some point soon.

Lewis wasnt exactly granite chinned himself, quite a lot of the high level heavyweights now dont seem to have great chins.

Lewis had an awesome jab..and was lighter and more mobile in his early career..depends which Lewis we are talking about. .always hard to compare fighters in different era imo..

Not many heavyweight can recover from a flush punch on the chin..but a 16-18 stone man carries a lot of power lol

The only similarity between Bruno and AJ is the physique AJ has a real fire about him.... an anger if you want you can see that in the way he finishes apponentas...its going to be interesting when he fights someone thats going to test him a bit I think we will see a real savageness about him .....but as a person ive said this before if any youngsters want to see how to carry yourself in any sport take a leaf out of this lads book

Its worth remembering Gary was 35 - 0 with a world ranking at that time as well.

Jimmy Batten , that name takes me back ,when I was a kid, he was the one we were all a bit windy of getting matched with .

Jimmy was a bit older than me but a real piss taker type funny f****r he was......topped a bill in Miami and took the mighty Roberto Duran to points, not bad for a scruffy kid out the flats !.................just a shame he cant really remember it,hence my point about better too early than too late.
