Ferret With Abscess

Nearly ever 4 or 5 years one of the ferrets will get abscess,I bring ferret to the vet cost 60 euro,what do other lads do?any home remedies? always thought home job would be messy,And for the lads with no heart a good ferret is worth minding,if he was no good he be sold on as pet middle of second season.

Are they under the chin neck area,,,?

 

I've had a few there over the years,,,forget lancing and cleaning them ,,get some antibiotics,,,I use amoxicillin ,,,

 

Put the ferret in a cage on it's own,,,now crush the tablet up,,,or if in a capsule,,put this in a drinking bottle,,,put some warm water in from the kettle,,,but not boiling,,,the warm water helps disolve the tablet,,,once dissolved top the drinker up to the top,,,this bottle wil last the ferret about a week...

 

Now the feed,,,when doing this it's easier to use some soft food like cat food,,,now break a tablet in to quarters ,,crush,,,and give it a quater each day mixed in to the cat food,,,only mix it in to a bit of the cat food,,,cos you want the ferret to eat it all,,,

 

I think it's better if the ferret is slightly under fed everyday for the next week or two ,,just so it gets the food and drug in..

 

I've done this a good few times now and had success every time

Get mine off eBay and have never had a problem people worry about scams but I have had loads off the same lad and they always work I get a lot for the terrier lads as well and they have never complained. But there probably is a lot of fakes on there.
