Lifting The Ban

Recommended Posts

Mr Darcy has given you a very good direction you can also point out that mink are roaming free due to the over zealous anti hunting and lacs releasing them into the wild from legitimate business enterprises when the fur trade was allowed. The Dog Act restricts lots of countryside activity both sporting , economic and conservational. Tell her the fox hunting was the one the anti country sports destroyers choice to paint in an extremely bad light by actually staging dramas and showing all types of things out of context even a lawful activity such as gardening can be shown in a totally different light if you bring in chemicals used and the negative acts are blown out of all proportion.

hunting with dogs is the perfect way to control pest species. Fit healthy pests get away unfit unhealthy pests are caught and killed instantly and humanely. An unfit fox is more likely to turn on farmers stock or game birds due to not be able to hunt as effectively as a fit fox. Shooting foxes or any pest species can and very often does result in a misplaced shot so the animal can suffer a long lingering death. As for poisoning this can lead to other non pest species being poisoned from feeding on the dead poisioned carcass. The ban costs tax payers thousands of pounds a year to try and police a law that cannot really be enforced. This money could be used in a much more productive way. The law was pushed through more as a class war than anything else. How can it be illegal for a lurcher to course a hare the has evolved overtime to be one of if not the fastest wild animal in Britain and has a very good chance escape but it's ok to shot hundreds on a hare drive in a single day.

Or something along those line.

This is where politicians go through the slips, they talk of referendums if you phrase the question in the right context you can easily sway the uninitiated or the ones with no concept of country sports. If I put the Question" would you like the hunting ban repealed to allow the wholesale slaughter of woodland creatures" we all know what the result would be if it was rephrased as" Would you vote for a repeal of the hunting with dogs Act in order to allow controlled and proven pest control activities to be undertaken" it may well be a vote for repeal also if costs to the Tax payer of maintaining an unenforceable Act were placed on the table with chapter and verse relating to public health risks of uncontrolled pests and vermin the public misguided perception the lacs would have them believe would change dramatically the MP,s and regulatory authorities need to be made aware of these facts as most think the countryside is something that you pass through on the train on the way to parliament.
