IanB 0
I've been reloading for the hornet for awhile now and recently the rounds were getting very tight to chamber with the bolt and when ejecting the bolt was stiff. The rounds were new winchesters, which I reloaded with hornady 35 grain heads, I only neck sized the rounds when reloading, but I ended up having to full length resize the full case, its now much better, anyone else had this or just neck sized from the off with no problems..? DeerhoundLurcherMan 997
Do hornet cases taper from one end to the other? I'm sure the bloke who ran the reloading class I went to yesterday said something about having to full length re-size for and calibre case which tapers?... Quote Link to post
Cedric 132
IanB - I found the same, neck sizing only tightens the neck and does nothing for the shoulder and case body. I ended up full length sizing about ever four loads plus I think the neck tension was better with full length. Quote Link to post
IanB 0
Yes Cedric these have probably had 4 loads through them, so probably like yours.. I've got a load of lil gun here, but I'm using the rest of my H110 up first 12.3 grains seems best for me...I've just trimmed the cases for the first time as well as some had went slightly over... 3175darren 1,100
I am due to start loading for my hornet very soon, what dies are you using I have the lee set,I should get some bullet heads this next wk, as I am on the last of a load I got when I got the gun,its been mentioned on here before about neck sizing it would be worth doing a search, Quote Link to post
Cedric 132
IanB - just out of interest, before you start using your Lilgun keep a few of those loaded with H110 to one side. When you have both fire a few together and see if you think that one powder is louder than the other ! 3157Darren - if you have a Lee kit it will contain both the neck and full length sizing dies. Search for resizing and you will find opinions are varied. If you are starting loading for a Hornet I would recommend an expander die and a crimp die as well. Quote Link to post
