Carraghs Gem 1,675
Sounds good price, I'm paying about £7.40 per week (10euro a week) gym and swimming pool membership on a 12mth contract... would've been nice if I could've afforded family membership
nedskib 2
The recovery time definitely gets worse with age. Strangely, it works the other way around for hang-overs.
desertbred 5,490
age related dont over excert your self, get the wife to stir your tea ,only read tabloids not the big papers (tend to be heavy) in fact get a kindle and most importantly get someone to slip your dogs for you then recovery times mean feck all

walshie 2,804
It sounds like one of those Fitness First type gyms where they lay their towel out over a bench before laying on it Best of luck to you Walshie....good move It's far from that Gnash. Not a yummy mummy in sight! It's just a local group of 4 gyms. But they do change the sawdust on the floor once a week.
MoChara 1,632
Good on you walshie, some folk say about gyms etc never join so you've took the first step by joining so stick with it. Fella goes to bodybuilders gym - not for the faint hearted let me tell you but I'd imagine you'll do right in that one your in sounds like a leisure type gym. Good luck!! Its one of the few industries that can still get away with being sexist ......Pure bodybuilding gyms, otherwise known as " Male Only " gyms are one of the few leisure facilities thats actually come down in price over the years......my gym has a non members fee of £4.50 per session......i used to train in a well known local gym called Len Sells in the 90,s and paid £5 per session then !!......a years membership used to cost upwards of £500.....today we do a Gold Membership thats £260 annually.....a 12 month membership for £30 at £3 per session......and Silver/Bronze memberships in between.........with 10,000 square feet of equipment, immaculate changing rooms, hygienic showers, dietary advice,an in house shop, personal trainers etc etc.......its a lot of product for not a lot of money .....for a punter the fitness industry is definately on the up and up in my opinion. Surprised me that Gnash, especially with London prices etc,was paying £350 a year in the eighties for considerably less ,grubby toilet/changing room (no womans changing room at all) as for the showers, youd need inoculating before entering I was thinking of trying the one remaining local gym,but its pretty much what you would expect, very few free weights but loads of machines, not really my cup of tea,so Im training at home at the min,if the bug bites I will travel further afield I think

keepdiggin 9,560
Do you think it helps a lot if you have a gym partner? I started going after work on my own but soon started making reasons why not to go.
