I am jealous, as said above we are very restricted in England, too many people with hitler Atitudes, thanks for sharing with us,

Our ability to hunt game with dogs is always under assault from the animal rights people and our progressive government. I fear that if we don't elect a devout constitution conservative for our next president, we won't even be able to chase a rabbit and we sure won't be able to shoot it. We have lost so many of our freedoms already and they are trying their best to squash independent individuals. They have already rewrote our history books. What people like me are able to do and enjoy now will soon be a memory and we too will be written out of history.
we all need to stand together, hunters shooters and fishermen , accross the globe, we are under threat in every country, no one is safe we are becoming second best to a bigoted townie majority,
I totally agree. It's easier said than done though. From what I've witnessed on the forum i come from is we as a hole are disinterested in talking about bills and laws and had much rather talk about dogs, hunting, and fishing. I'm guilty as I've not been one to call my congressman but thanks to such columns and what few people that do actively participate in such discussions and are knowledgeable in such areas of the political arena, I am better informed thanks to them and my awareness and interest in preserving what we have left is being fueled and growing.

I'd like to give a HUGE Thankyou to everyone who actively participates to preserve what rights all of us as outdoorsman from around the world have left and to those that vote to put people in office that fight to preserve what we have left and to get back what we have lost. Thank you very very much!

ETHD is definitely a great site with lots of great information. Being city bound in Dallas I use it to live vicariously through everyone else's adventures, and learn as much as one can from reading along the way, just like i do on The Hunting Life. I had the opportunity to go hog dog hunting a bunch when I was in college with some great guys from Hearne, TX, and have had a few opportunities to go since moving back to Dallas with some great folks in Bridgeport. To this day it's one of the most fun things I've ever done.

I encourage anyone on this site who's interested in seeing more of this style of hunting, not necessarily the way Dean does it because as he mentioned his use of lurchers makes him unique, to check out http://www.easttexashogdoggers.com/forum/. I agree with you though Dean watching a dog run full out, especially dogs like the ones featured here, is one of the most thrilling things there is.

No lurchers for me, yet. My first dog is a working Dobermann who I did police type work, schutzhund, with for a few years. I just got my first hunting dog, an English Springer Spaniel, last winter. She's been great on quail and ducks so far. Both of my dogs are much more capable of their jobs then I am capable of being a trainer, but I continue to try my best.

Unfortunately, loss of our chosen pursuit is something that is always looming. Our bird dog club trains at the National Grasslands in Decatur so you can imagine how touchy that can be. To me it will always the few bad apples that ruin it for everyone else. Those who choose to litter and disrespect public places, or post distasteful pictures on Facebook are the fuel for the anti fire. We have to do our part to educate those individuals, but my problem is I just don't know many people like that. Those who I was raised with and tend to associate with are those like us who cherish what we have. So I do my part by cleaning up their messes whenever possible.
