Bonham 4
I currently have a HW80, and would like to know, what is the best, 25m or 30m, for zeroing in. Quote Link to post
jonnie bravo 572
What cal is it? And is it sub 12ft/lbs? Quote Link to post
tote 854
Depends on the calibre, closer for a .22 [25 or 30m] and .177 [30 - 35m], also depends on how competent a shot you are. Quote Link to post
Bonham 4
its a .22, and I am using Crossman dome, 14.5 grain Quote Link to post
jonnie bravo 572
If you don't want any hold under (where your point of impact will be higher than the centre of your crosshairs) then 25 is a good bet. I prefer it this way less to think about but you will need to calculate more drop for longer range shots. 30 is good if your scope is pretty high 1 Quote Link to post
sureshot.177 49
I don't think you could go wrong with 25-30m as long as you no your aim points 1 Quote Link to post
mark williams 7,552
Hi mate take a look at best zero range in the search engine option - all is there. (top right on this page). Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
30 metres for .22 is the optimum distance. Set up a series of targets at ranges you are likely to see rabbits pop out of hedge rows and the like and try practicing on these to see precisely where your shots at this zero-range distance are falling over varying ranges.. Dr B 186
For my set up (S410, AA fields, .22), Chairgun says 29yds is the optimal zero. However, I prefer to zero at 28yds as the pellet rises less through the mid-distance giving me better accuracy across the range. I have a report on here somewhere - so please check it out. With my scope set to x7, its one mil-dot down for a perfect zero at 40yds and just a tab more than 2 mil-dots for 50yds. Very intuitive. Quote Link to post
