Deer For The Dog Raw

Found some road kill this morning so carved it up for the dogs. Should I freeze it 1st??

I will feed it raw but I wanna know if you have to freeze it for couple weeks 1st to kill off any parasites??

should be alright ii never freeze meat first just give it to the dogs as it comes. i do worm them more often then most tho seems to work for me

These dogs have got it good these days. Ive just had beans on toast and my pup had 2lb beef + 2lb chicken

Well the freezer Is actually full but I'm gonna have to Bung a couple rabbits out as they aren't having the lot in one go. They'll be swimming in shite!

After reading warnings on the net about people eating /feeding roadkill venison that had been put down with a lethal injection and not collected I'd be wary of feeding it to my stock unless I saw it killed.

I don't believe they use barbiturate injections to put deer to sleep, a bullet is much cheaper and more available.

 

There are two men local to me that are called out to RTA deer, they both use .22rim fire.

 

Put it this way, it has never harmed me .

 

 

 

Edited to say. Surely it's illegal to leave a large poisoned carcase on the roadside.

I feed it raw but there tends too be that much from 1 deer I freeze most off it so it dosnt go off the only down side I ever found was lacking in fat and some times needed some added just scraps from the butchers does it also found keeping a lot of the meat on the bone helps stop them getting lose stools but not letting any off it go too waste they even get the heads the feet heart lungs and liver

Doesn't the same rule apply to deer as rabbit.if u don't cook or freeze ur dogs will get worms?
