gnipper 6,632
And hopefully they will be bringing back these little buggers when I start flying them. I lost 5 of my first 6 chicks this year.
gnipper 6,632
I've only just got these tbh. I got rid of my others a good while ago but when I was watching young rollers drifting off lost I had to get them back for retrieving them. That black doo flies for miles and has plenty of steam he just needs to stop looking for cream hens now.
jimgt206 108
You'd like that one norwich?
gnipper 6,632
I've been letting him work other colour roller hens so he stops being choosy, as long as he flies well and attracts my rollers back I'm happy. I got them 2 doos and a hen and they all fly really well, my old ones must have been stiffies
gnipper 6,632
You'd like that one norwich? Maybe a splash of it. I think most working pouters are crosses, like lurchers.
jimgt206 108
Black looks like got a good splash ! Take it you are scots? Calling them doos Are there many people using the thief pouters local? Must be a good crack luring other birds.would love to see it when then the yanks send up huge flocks of flights to catch each others birds
gnasher16 30,605
Good social side to it very friendly and because there isnt big money prizes etc you dont get the agro like racing .burnt out lofts thefts etc. Come from long line of "show people" dogs canaries budgies ,rabbits guinea pigs .get satisfaction when you breed something worth showing to other people,be it new colour ,type etc. Also the shows are a good place to see something new ,and get outcrosses for your genepools . I couldnt disagree with you more, personally i would get no satisfaction whatsoever from showing a bird/dog/rabbit to somebody and having them tell me it looks nice......but like i say each to their own i dont get it but we,re all different. I like the personality and temperament of the breed and I do try and use them for bringing back other birds but out of Glasgow and Edinburgh there's not really any competition just lost birds and ferals. It must be some sight having a thousand flights and tipplers whizzing around above your head.

gnipper 6,632
I don't know tbh mate but it's not the first one I've brought back with a doo. My neighbour keeps rollers and I've brought a few of his back too.
