ryaldinhio 4,692
Apologies if the title is spelt incorrectly! last week I had my hands on a stiff stoat (no joke) it had drowned, long story, and this morning I saw a roe deer at the side of the road bloated and stiff as a board. Question is does rigamortis, drowning, act of death (other tha. damage) affect taxidermy??? If not Im gutted I didnt keep the stoat, however trying to ram a cold stiff deer into the boot of a company car may not have gone unoticed!
fireman 10,935
I'd say no as everything gets rigamortis when it dies and they only use the skin and maybe bone so seazed up muscle don't matter.
walshie 2,804
I thought rigor mortis was temporary. Comes on a certain time after death but relaxes a while later.
MoChara 1,632
Yes walshie your right. Once established rigor lasts anywhere between 18-36 hours I think. It all depends on manner of death and the temperatures and location in when rigor sets in and when it ends
