Attaching Two Long Nets Together

Ive got two 50yd nets, and sometimes think should I cut one in half to make two 25yd nets, I think you have more options when you come to setting when you have two separate nets, therefore I would leave them as they are, but everyone has different opinions

Where we ferret we need a big stop net to go through the brambles so my mate asked me to tie some netting what he had together ive done about 15yards so far as im making a 25 yard net as it is but i tied it by sorting the net out so the meshes were lined up right n then tieing it with fishing line i was going to use some spun poly but i could see it so used fishing line n its strong n unnoticeable

I also would leave them as two fifty yard nets they will be easier too handle and if you do need more than fifty yards of net it's easy to overlap the first net by a couple of feet and run the second fifty yard net out , that way is far better than running out what you need from a hundred yard net and leaving the remainder laying on the ground

I have a one hundred yard and did have a fifty yard but cut the fifty yard down to thirty yard and two ten yards also made up a five yard really handy cover all sorts patches and gaps.

Thanks for the advise everyone,

What do you use for you're top and bottom line on the log net ?

Will draw cord be okay I make my purse nets with?

Thanks

Hi Tom

Top and bottom lines are about 3mm braided nylon which is a bit bigger than the purse cords I use. Last year I changed all my purse nets cords for lighter line about 2mm as it seems to have less friction and purse better.

On the fifty I cut down the bottom line is a different colour it all so seems weighted a different sort of cord same diameter, the one hundred has two cords the same.

If your making one up may be different colour lines may help when you are setting and picking up, you will spot a twist straight away.

Cheers Arry.

1.5-2mm braided nylon is what your looking for. You dont want 3mm it's too heavy.

Spot on. When someone recommends 3mm running lines, it does make me wonder exactly how much long netting they have done?
