New 'mole Catchers' Spade ?

Recommended Posts

I know what you lads mean about losing traps ? Ive lost my first 'trapline' , lol Whos got a metal detector , then ? I dont put out as many traps as some, so im usually ok,at recovering them. (if it would have been a half-barrel,i would have got it) lol

Have you lost the trap or can't find the trap site? I ask because last week I thought I'd lost a Putange, but then realised that the peg I'd put in to secure it was laid in the tunnel. I excavated a foot or so down the tunnel and found the trap attached to the scraper of a dead mole. I hadn't pegged it down securely enough and the mole had been able to drag it away before dying. It was the first time I'd caught a mole by the scraper using a Putange. Normally they crack the skull or neck.

If I could chuck my two centime's worth in; There can be no perfect spade to suit every mole trapper. My spade is a cut down border spade the width being around two-thirds of the length of a Duffus tr

Lambs are causing havoc and wrecking the job, brilliant to sit among them today though and help a couple of ewes out that were struggling a tad in the heat.

poor feckers born tomorrow onwards wont have it so good up here though.

Not a bad idea, you have there.I have never used 'markers', if i had, i feel sure i would have had some nicked,....lol But i realise its probably a necessity, when your going to be setting alot of traps, over larger areas ?

got to be honest, both the sling and the dibbler in the spade are something i have seen on ferreting spades and are not my ideas.. still both are good ideas all the same.
