Working Norfolks

Just wondering if any body knows of anyone ratting with norfolks ?

Have the use a 2 good russells and take my home dog (Norfolk)ratting ,

Russells as expected perform well ,but totally unexpected the norfolk dosen't do bad with some encouragement .

Just wondered because I only ever seem to see a norfolk on crufts just lately,

Have there working days just been bred out over the years and I've just fell lucky !!!! :D

should be ok, as you know all terriers were bred for working a specific job, theres no reason at all why Norfolks shouldn't work well if encouraged to do so.

I know what your saying but ...never put him to any quarry before and he's 4 yr old

took him with with the 2 russells ..........he watched ...........and then from nowhere he went at it like the little t**t he can be and worked for a solid 2 hours, he was gone in a world of his own had about 8 rats to him sen,and like I said that was his first time!!!!!!

No where your coming from like I said before he's a home dog (wife's).........

If she found out she'd go ape!!!!!!!!!!

Plus she brought him a week after a dog in his 5 gen won crufts and cost us

a grand!!!!!!!

saying that though since his first time ratting ,walking round the farm i get to shoot at

h'es gone to ground several times ,only for about 20 min but never the less ..........

As for reds he's abit smo ,he has been nailed on several occasions by a couple of the russels

I use ,that may just be picking order though !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i had a norfolk that used to work on foxes. pre ban she caught three hares that forgot to get up and run. she was so small that the hares normally mananaged to run about 60 yards before she management to kill them. she also caught two fallow deer which she paniced and they ran into sheep fencing and before they could stand up she had managed to lack onto them.

Couldnn't find him for alf hour whilst pitching the tent ...

Eventually found him behind a tree trying his hardest to get at a shit small rabbit

in a sit small whole ,mrs woner impressed ...but i was quite proud of his new passion !!!

Did the dog or bitch come from working stock?
