MoChara 1,632
Will you stop it for goodness sake I'm crawling I was bit by a tick years ago flip probs 6 or so years ago, it got latched on to my shoulder blade and no don't ask how the hell it got there... Anyway I panicked and had 2 fellas pull it out - now let's just say they weren't gentle about it and I'm 100% sure they left its head in there some place. I'm just waiting for the lymes to kick in but thanks for that I'll now await sudden death

In fact you are better to get the tick out and leave the head in rather than leave the tick foe long enough to begin regurgitating. Ad long as when you remove the tick you don't squeeze the body or do anything else to cause it to regurgitate. I pick up ticks daily. 365 days of the year, granted most days in the winter I only find single figures, but this time of year it can be endless, I have had 9 dug in today. Catch them early, remove them properly and you have no worries from lymes. This powassan thing, I don't know. I hope its just a bit of scare mongering or I am going to have to rethink my career choice.

Folk was sure I'd be having issues with it, where it was on the shoulder blade you could feel a lump where it was, stayed there for donkeys . Brother said he got one years ago when he was young and never bothered him but it weren't yanked out like mine was Of all the places I've been and crap I've got myself into I go out to get washing and bang get a tick in my own garden that was the worst bit - dogs got them frequently. Since I moved a few years back I'm yet to see one tick down here.
Hydropotesinermis 724
Yeah, I have left the heads in before more than once, you can sometimes see them in your skin, they usually just go a bit pussy like a blackthorn thorn and come out. Compared to lymes that's nothing. You are far better off to remove the tick quickly and without squeezing the body than you are to leave it in because you are worried about pulling the head off, you have 12-24 hours from when the tick first latches on before it starts regurgitating, this is what gives you lymes. Although it should be said that not all ticks carry lymes, different areas of the country are worse. Just in from work from this nor ing and already pulled one off my arm, flicked several off my trousers through the day, no doubt I'll have a few more by this evening. I think some people like me are just tick magnets while others can go through the same bit of ground and pick up home.
