Im just wondering as I have a jill who is a week short of seven months old and she is huge!! I'd love to give her a look out tomorrow when I go ferreting - but is she too young? I dont want to ruin a potentially great worker because I'm impatient. Thanks.

7 months is definately old enough. I start mine at around 4-5 months usually.

Should be no problem. I start mine at 4 months aswell and they do fine.

I dont think there is a set age to start a ferret, its more down to the maturity of the ferret. i have started them at 4 months but also have one that is 5 months just now and is no where near ready !

My 2 are 7 months now took them to my proper hunting land they were a bit playfull in the empty burrows soon as they made contact with bugs they sharp knuckled down 3 rabbits in the bag i can,t wait for the weekend to get back up there & i think they are the same...

iv got a poley at 7 months old had her out about 8 times she doing very well started her off in small warrens now she's just moved onto the big ones she findin them pretty well im taking her sister out for the first time in the morning so fingers crossed
