Cedric 132
Out yesterday using a new batch of SK/Lapula .22lr subsonics and noticed some shots were definately louder and more 'blast' than most. Same out of both rifles, Anshutz and Ruger, both with moderators. Anyone else noticed this ? Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
Have you recently cleaned the mods? I get this using Winchester subs after I've cleaned the Sak silencer. Until after probably 25/30 rounds then all is ok. Quote Link to post
Coypu Hunter 486
Never had a problem with Aguila Super Extras, Lapua/Akah X-Targets or X-Zones, or Win Subs. Had that problem with Remington subs, which were all over the place -- completely unreliable ammo. Shan't be buying those ever again! Quote Link to post
Tremo 138
I haven't tried SK/lapua, but I find that out of my Anschutz Winnies are definitely louder than Eleys. Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
Yeah eleys are the quietest I've ever used Quote Link to post
Rimfireboy! 1,463
Never had a problem with sk subs, I've always found them very consistent and accurate. I hope they remain good as they're one of my favourite .22 rounds and as accurate as the eley subs in my Anschutz. I was impressed with winchester's 42max subsonic hp's that I recently bought. I just bought two boxes to try them. Had a bit of time on a few targets, and they were grouping about 3/4 inch at sixty yards. Quote Link to post
Cedric 132
My 50 yard groups were pretty crap but I put it down to the wind and my dodgy eyes, it didn't occur tpo me it might have been the ammo. Perhaps it was, perhaps not. Always had good results with SK in the past. When the wind drops I'll try again and spot each shot. Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
May have been a dodgy batch mate. Quote Link to post
Skull Hooker 185
Winnie subs for my Anschutz 22. Tried some Lapua once but they were so greasy, it would shoot 10 then start gumming up. Quote Link to post
Cedric 132
I hope it's not a dodgy batch, just bought a few hundred. The grease doesn't seem to affect the rifle but it gets all over my fingers when loading. Quote Link to post
shropshire dan 467
If it turns out to be a dodgy batch take them back Mate. I've taken hmr ammo back before now and exchanged them when had cracked cases Quote Link to post
Cedric 132
Doesn't seem to be the ammo! No wind today and much better, fired about 100 rounds and no l;oad bangs. Considering my eyes not too bad groups. It's surprising just how much that little bullet drops in 50 yards. Quote Link to post
nasher1 258
The grouping at 100 yards is very impressive with both guns my ruger 10/22 target wont do that but at 50 yards its doing one big ragged hole using rws subs Quote Link to post
Rimfireboy! 1,463
That's looking more like sk's performance. That's where you see the difference from other not so accurate brands. I've tested lots of different .22's at 100 yards and not many of the hollowpoint rimfire bullets perform that well. It's interesting to compare them with quality target ammo like eley match or tenex etc. Quote Link to post
