Blackbriar 8,569
We're lucky enough to have a door between the living room and the front door - ours go mental at the letter box, despite every effort to teach them otherwise, so I have some sympathy for the owner. Having said that, dogs (big or small), can't be allowed to bite. As an owner, I wouldn't be happy keeping a dog that had injured someone in innocent circumstances. shepp 2,285
Everybody knows their dog and if it were mine I would put a cage behind the letter box. Owners fault in my opinion.
Born Hunter 17,813
My dogs are my responsibility. Somebody delivering leaflets (no matter the contents/topic) should be safe from harm. If I can't guarantee that then it's my responsibility to prevent them from doing so. Fingers through the letter box is perfectly acceptable as part of normal 'letter delivery' imo, half an arm through would not be, so lets keep things in perspective.
riohog 5,750
i remember a case years ago , might have been in the papers at the time maybe 30 odd years ago ,.this woman kept a dobermann ,she came home to find the dog was choking, she rushed to the vets , and the vet removed a finger from the dogs throat , anyway police were called , they found a man in the local woods hand bound up less finger , aparently this man knew the woman kept her house key on a bit of string through the letterbox , i guess he was going to brake in and rob the house , put his hand in the letter box to get the ey and fido bit his finger off ,,

riohog 5,750
The dog was protecting the property thatsb true but the moral is dont put your hand /fingers through the letterbox ,the dog oviously knew it wasnt the owners hand , either by smell or sight ,

Accip74 7,112
So what qualifies as trespass.....up to the distal phalanx or middle phalanx?.......I take all the way up to the proximal phalanx would be damn right breaking & entering lol
