Fingers Bitten Off

Recommended Posts

If it was a family friend popping round to put a Christmas card through the letter box......some attitudes may be a little different....

If it was family or friends, they would probably know you had a dog that jumps up at the letter box.

To be fair, she probably heard the dog hit the door first and thought f**k it, I`m posting my propaganda.

At the end of the day, theres no need to put your fingers through, otherwise there would be lots of fingerless postman across the land.

If a dog of mine did that id pts myself but just my opinion .

My dogs are my responsibility. Somebody delivering leaflets (no matter the contents/topic) should be safe from harm. If I can't guarantee that then it's my responsibility to prevent them from doing so

Shame it wasn't a rspca officer

Sadly your right. I wouldnt give a f**k. (I would have a sign up saying not to do if though if I knew my dogs were that way inclined).

If I seen fingers coming through my letter box, I`d bite them off. Theres no need/reason for it. I would construe it to be an attempted break in.

postman might get bit, how many of them are missing fingers? My brother inlaw is a postie of 10 years plus, he`s never mentioned any of his postie friends losing fingers.

The dog was in his property she stuck hand in so I would say not the dogs fault , a friend of mines son was attacked by a staff pretty badly some years ago but because it happened inside the dogs house it didn't have to be put to sleep I

I think they changed the law on that. Cant see why she had her fingers through the letterbox far enough to get bitten though.

Owner of the dogs fault ...just because someone is on your property doesn't give you the right to cause them death or injury ....does it.? ?..your responsible for your dogs actions ..it could have easily been the kid from next door posting you a birthday card or somthing ffs,!

If posting letters through a letter box is your job, I'd guess you'd get pretty wise about it......a child ( as I often did for my mum) or a family friend maybe not, but if you'd be happy to bite a child's fingers off yourself, well good for you mate.....

My dogs cant even get to my front door at any time unless Im going through it with them... Has the world turned to shit, no common sense any more. Ive posted stuff for my mother as a kid, Ive still got all my fingers... Your telling me an aggy dog made no noise behind the door, and was just waiting for fingers? No chance, the woman carried on regardless. Maybe I`m over protective, but I see it as trespass, not my dogs fault.

Yeh & I've still got mine :-)......if you see that as trespass, I'd say your probably a bit more on 'high alert' than I am, I personally couldn't live with a dog like that & if it did bite someone's fingers off in that way I'd be dealing with it, not congratulating it on a job well done......

Mines goes bananas when our letter box goes. I've got a second door that's shut when I'm out so he doesn't get through to the post the odd time anything comes through at night he's bolted through and shredded the letter goes nuts as well when somebody chaps . Open the door and he's fine. If your putting fingers through a letter box with a barking dog behind it your not to smart. I would be pissed off if my door got rattled and the dog just sat there.

It's a tough one.

the dogs not proven to be a danger,it done what a lot of dogs would in the same circumstance,so no need to destroy it.

as for whether the owner is to blame, partly at least.
