Honestly don't watch this if you've got a weak heart, nearly had a heart attack raging at the screen the one time I tried to watch it

A boat full of dirty clueless hippies floating round the arctic, where's an iceberg when you need one ffs.

Totally different but there was a documentary on BBC ages ago about Britain's whaling fleet, we were commercially whaling until about 1963 I think.

It was f***ing fascinating, I couldn't believe the scale of it especially in its peak after WW2.

Almost made me want to give it a go.

It was a huge industry at its peak. I'd recommend anyone with an interest of the history of it all to read Moby Dick. It's one of the best books I've ever read, and due to Melville's experiences working on a whaling boat, taken as pretty much the most historically accurate description of whaling from his time.

I remember that, it was brilliant. Would love to see it again. It was in two parts if I remember correctly.

The whaling fleets in England and North America really were a fascinating time in history. Love reading and watching documentaries about it.

Anyone seen the BBC film of Moby Dick with Patrick Stewart? That was a cracking bit of TV

can you remember what it was called so I can try and find it? I caught the last ten minutes of it and was gutted I missed it!

I also read quite a good book not long ago about a bloke that set up after the basking sharks when the whaling came to an end. That was an interesting read.
