fox digger 1,086
Huskys are one of the most copied saws ove seen about, stickered up shite thats made in hong kong. Is there anychance you got a dud one? Car boot sales are full of new huskys, mainly the smaller saws, look identicle to the real thing but there not. Ive never heard complaints about huskys as they are the best saw out there.
DIDO.1 22,845
No I got mine, and my mate did too, from a main dealer. My brother has a stilh, prob the equivalentmodel to my husky and there is no doubt which is best....maybe they have dropped their quality on the more basic models? I'll look what model it is tomorrow

Still got it 12 years on, by Christ that saw has had some abuse, never even had to replace the clutch, been through countless bars and chains as you would expect dlfrom a saw that has done a lot of work, a few air filters and I changed the fuel filter not too long ago. Parts fail. But that's the beauty of a pro range. You can get the bits and fix them. Nothing will last forever. Sooner or later your going to be into a carb kit or piston and barrel. After all. It's a 2 stroke.
the goat 642
Just get yourself a stihl 880, smallest saw on the market ideal for cutting a few logs up now and again ?
Waz 4,274
Im sure mines a ms180, had it about 7 or 8 years, mainly for seasoned logs, but last couple of years done a bit of treework. Chain is down to the rivets, 2nd one ive had, need a new bar aswell, and yesterday the pull cord started to fray so yesterday had to carry on with the top handle one. Was thinking of going up a pitch on the chain and bar, apparently the sprocket doesnt have to changed? I spose with a wider chisel the engine will be doing more work? bad idea? Rake aboot 4,936
I have the 181 and the 170 and for the size you are are talking about, the smaller saw will manage that no problem. It can come with a 12 or 13" (or slighty longer I think) bar. If you think you might do larger stuff then the 181 with a 16" bar is not that much more expensive and is capable of most things you can throw at it. But stick with Stihl. There are more dealers, hence easier to get spares and service. You need to buy the saw face to face as well, you cannot get them mail order now.
TOPPER 1,809
ive a husky and a stilh both are good saws but but id say the stilh is the better saw ive had less hassle with it the husky s oiler blocks up regular and is a pain keep stripping it to un block it but both good saws
riohog 5,750
when i was on the wood job i used huskys 262xp i think i was working them 6 to 8 hrs a day every day with a 15" bar ,they are super fast id cut the rakers back abit never had an ounce of bother ,yes i went through some chains and bars but ,i was a production cutter ,soft and hardwoods keepthe blade sharp ! thats the secret , and yes ive used all sorts of oil in it from old engine oil to hydrolic fluid ,

the goat 642
Use a husky 372xp ground saw in work and that gets some abuse, along with the other 3 in the gang, don't often need to repair them but the foreman has a stihl 362 which is slightly smaller and more comfy to use, personally I'd say stihl are a little more reliable, never once had a problem with my stihl top handle saw which also gets used and abused every day

walshie 2,804
Gave it a good test today. A really ugly old pine tree with branches only on one side. Measured it as 23" diameter. Didn't even break a sweat. (Cos I got my son to do it.)
