francolin 449
well the spar has been and proper hurt me this visit,i went out all day and left shed door open, forgot wire door was also open, the lad rings me on my way home and tells me a spar has been in and hes just disturbed it, as some will know tis is nothing new around me they come daily and sometimes sit on the flight, but this one enterd the shed and killed a pair of dimorphic canarys,a goldie cock and damaged a goldie mule,it had some how pulled the birds through the canary cage fronts,or at least part way ,this is the worst damage a spar has done me ,since I stopped keeping pigeons, and had to be seen to be belived, the door is now locked 24/
francolin 449
forgot to add I did take a pic on phone as evidence if the kids come I will let them put a pic of the damage on, cant belive it went inside the shed, and killed birds that I bought in for a change, so its back to the plain old irish for this season.atb

clabedoo 59
Once had a spar get into my flight when I was trying to pure breed some nuns - bugger had the lot - my heart was not in it after that - could not face that carnage again and passed my stock onto another breeder - what was left anyway. The filippin thing still comes to look at the shed that now stands in the place where the flight used to be just in case - swine

fireman 10,869
Here's a story of a spar,i had a greenfinch chick hatched and raised by a little irish hen and it grew to big for her to keep up with the feeding so i was helping out topping it up and was showing my better half how to feed a yongster when i'd forgot to tell her to shut the door and away it went,i spent the next 6 odd hours trying to recatch it as it wasn't weaned and kept coming down to the flight it's adopted mum was in begging to be fed(she'd stopped feeding it hence me topping it up) so i caught her up and hung her on the washing line in a cage and sat below it with a net.I so nearly got it straight away but i missed and tried all sorts to coax it back.Just as it was going dark it was sat on my house roof and it flew down to the washing line and then saw me and tried to fly back up to the roof but due to it being hungry it didn't make it and just flew into the wall then dropped down so i ran and grabbed it before the dogs did.I fed it and then thought i'd put it in the cage with it's mum and leave putting them back out till morning,i then went n doors and forgot to shut the door, one dead greenie chick, one ragged soskin hen that was sat on 5 full eggs and a dead canary mum,i could have fecking cried after all that the day before, spars get no second chance,i scare them off every chance i get ...
