delboy_187 902
Bought a grey pate last year turned out to be a hen . Have had her paired up since January with a Siskin . Well about twenty minute ago she got out by my hand and out the door she flew (stupid cnut) knowing she bin in double breederall her life so me thinking she won't have have much flight I followed if over neighbors wall as I could see her declining . Any ways lost sight of her then she pops up on three in my garden . Two other gold finches beside her so I got into the shed and got my aviary trap put Siskin in to hang him out on side the shed in the hope I'd get her . I spooked them away she flew . Taught she was gone then but she came back with about ten in as many minutes . So as my Siskin is signing his heart out she came stumblin down three and was clinging to the cage but wouldn't go in and set the trap off pox it any how .I sat an watched for a bit somethin spooked them she flew away again . Any ways. I put my Siskin back in shed with the door open cage doors locked she might just pop in . I still have my aviary trap out just in case one with little silver closed rung and a yellow plastic ring on other gets hungry. Everything else will be released . Just want my good hen back so does her cock. What you guy's think

gnasher16 30,095
Thats a shame i feel for you......but realistically there cant be much chance of getting the bird back surely ?.....I cant imagine even a captive bred bird escaping out into the wild and then coming back to captivity ?
fireman 10,884
I've had them go back into a shed and i tied string to the door so i could close it from my living room window and i lost a greyplate and caught that with the old fashioned wire cage on a twig with again string to my window and a dish of food and water out under it so you do have a chance and i'd be up at first light as that's when she'll be up and hungry and looking for food and her mate ..
