swg dave 334
On most outings i go lamping with 1 friend, its like a partnership shared for the sport we both love and cherish. But on quite a few occasions ive lamped just me, my old cur, lamp and battery. On these nights where i have ventured alone is different, I seem more in tune with nature ears pricked, every noise a dog barking in the depths of the distance, you hear see and notice everything much more. Even the old jook seems more in tune, if you have never tried lamping just you and the oid lurcher try it, what a great experience. After catching a few rabbits ive sat and rolled a rollup with the dog layed next to me, watching how the old jook listens to the sounds unheard to man, with ears pricking and head turning. All in all lamping is great with a friend but doing it alone is even better.. What do you think? Would you make me right.. 10 Quote Link to post
MickyB 327
I usually go alone like you say just you, the dog and a lamp. Sometimes go with a pal, once went with 3 others...never again. 1 Quote Link to post

flipbull 1,139
Totally agree with you dave. Love getting out with just the me and my dog. You definatly come across more quarry to. Love watching my pup working and improving everytime I take him out. My pup had his first rabbits on the lamp about 2 weeks ago he is 7 months old. So come next season I will have to bring someone with me to carry them lol (wishful thinking). I make my roll ups before I go dave just incase it pisses down. 3 Quote Link to post
trenchfoot 4,243
I hate company when lamping. Dont mind going with one other, then spliting up. But 2 folk end up nattering, and if I wanted that, I'd go sit with that bloke in the pub 4 Quote Link to post
Guest vin
Always alone...its the only way to play. once went out with a mate and met up with his 2 mates and one of them's pregnant ready for popping Girlfriend..all with a dog each in the back of a VW golf. I had already drove 100 odd miles to get there.. weather was shite, ground was rock hard and frosty.. Caught and saw feck all.. But laughed all the way home and had a fun evening with a couple of proper nutters and the young lass was well hard and could've put many blokes to shame. I like my own company day and night. . .I get on great with myself. As for spooky...plenty of times i've had the heebie geebies,a cold shiver down the spine.. Last time was up on the Dales waiting for tomo and I seen this strange little character coming off the fields...Like a freaky little small person in a poncho, wellies and bare legs, about 4ft tall...in a big floppy hat.. No torch..No dog..just shuffling along and off towards the farm behind me.. I think it was a sheep shagger. . . Never seen one at it...but the sheep were noisy that night also. Ive seen a few ghost bunnies also...lol. Quote Link to post
stop.end 4,079
SOME TIMES IT CAN BE A BIT MORE SPOOKY IF YOUR HAVING A WANDER . ANY REAL SPOOKY ONES FELLAS ? ? lol...i was just going to say you sound like yer shiting yerself when you go out alone .. and then we had the question, any real sppoky 1s, only messing lad... lol the more you go out on your own the more you will looose the heeby jeebies..... the mind is a powerful tool and can well play tricks with you, but then you just look around you and your bang in the middle of nowhere in the dead of night just you lamp and dog....then you just remind yourself that there would be nobody else simple enough to be the places you be in a cold blowy night on the lamp. Most are tucked up safely and snuggly in there bed and i think what a waste when they could be out lamping! , 1 Quote Link to post
