David K 172 Posted April 10, 2015 Report Share Posted April 10, 2015 I'm a big fan of the Sussex x Silkie for broody birds, we have four of these and there is always one or more of them wanting to sit on eggs. This one has been sitting on a dozen call duck eggs for a few weeks, due to hatch this Sunday hopefully. Can't fault them as broodies and great mothers. 2 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

patterdalejoel 669 Posted May 10, 2015 Report Share Posted May 10, 2015 Darbo as you recall you sent me 6 gold top eggs, i got 3 chicks, 2 cocks and a pullet. i kept a cock and a pullet and bred the cock to some x bred wyandotte broodies i had to breed replacements and got 2 white pullets (below) they have been my best broodies this year, got 4 asil chicks under 1 and another is sat on some more. but the bloody pullet hasnt gone broody at all or even looked like it, bloody thing! 2 Quote Link to post Share on other sites
