I would say the bigger dogs go 24 maybe a bit bigger but very strong looking animals...nowt thin or shivery about these lol

So they would look like smallish greyhounds. Is that a fair discription.

Yeah sort of.but still quite  whippety....You can definitely tell a non ped from a greyhound. Theres some around 15lb and everything inbetween...if i were to get a non ped id definetly go for a bigger one 40lb upwards.

Jetro, there are quite alot of whippet dogs around the 22ish and bigger mark, even a few at 23, and bitches well over 21 to just under 22, all kc the last 30 ish years. The sire to my lad's kc whippet bitch is 22 3/4" tts. Her dam is exactly 20". His pup is almost 20" at the moment, and isn't 7 months til 2nd feb. I've owned some real crackers over the years that were all pretty big, with even the bitches being well over 21".

I don't know, as I've never been into racing, but I'm thinking that alot of the assumptions about whippets being small, fragile etc, came about from the yard/weight racing. Certainly, most of the whippets I've seen for years were mostly bred for working and as pets, but I've hardly seen what I would call a small whippet for decades.  I know they are about, but it seems to be further north, rather than the south.  Maybe as a result of the racing system, rather than working bred?

Just worker to worker. 

I'm delighted with the bitch. Have her a number of years. Wouldn't change a thing about her.

I took the dog in from a young chap who was giving up due to work and other commitments. I don't have him long so can't really say a lot about him. He has been working on the lamp and ferreting. 

Lovely dog though in temperament and manners.

I'm very happy with my lot here. 

To be honest I never seen whippet growing up. Just the odd lurcher.  The only whippet I remember seen were small light thin dogs.

There's a lot of blue in his colouring as well.

Not that the colour makes any difference to me. As long as he catches the odd rabbit I'm happy out.

Also id say he's a bit more than 37lb lol.
