fireman 10,869
Rather than start a new topic i,ll carry on this one........i put a nest pan and a few bits of material in the aviary a week ago and ive now got a Goldie hen who has completely ignored the pan but is building a nest in a crappy piece of conifer about 18 inches away from it.......would you just leave her to it or try to strategically place it all in the nest pan ?.....where shes building it doesnt look the most stable of places for a nest but what do i know. I've had the same many a time and i leave them be myself, birds have been building nests for millions of years so have the suss of it by now mate .But i recon she'll be fine and i even think Millet has never bred a goldie that hasn't ignored his nest pans and built their own nests... slip lead 862
Just keep your eye on it, if she starts laying and the eggs look vulnerable, it's best to try to do something, but only as a last result, as most natives can be very shy when on the nest.
