Thanks chaps i had planned to get into the whole breeding thing last year but the world cup got in the way but full steam ahead this year them pics were a few months ago they are looking a lot brighter now ive got 2 cocks and 2 hens in the aviary on their own at the moment i dont know how that will work out think ill probably have to split it in half and put a pair in each.......cheers Fireman hope you have a good year yourself mate one of these little cameras would do you they are cracking little things i havent sussed out all the settings yet but just had it taking a picture every few seconds and left it running for a few hours.......its a bit laborious going through them after picking out the good ones but not as bad as standing taking a thousand pics to get 1 good one :D

Anyway happy birding folks

Your have better results if you separate

Good luck.

Thankyou chief.....someone else said to just take 1 of the cocks out and leave him with 2 hens ??

He would serve both hens but will only pair and help with one nest as such and a brood reared by 2 parents is a better fed and stronger brood than one raised by 1 parent,Try to see if they've paired themselves up allready as that will help loads if you do have them side by side in flights as other wise there'll be woowing their other halves through the wire as such instead of getting down to it with each other hands(or wings) on...

One of the kids is getting one Gnasher and i'll certainly be pinching it for a day or two and seeing what comes out and like you say it saves the arm aches and madness of holding a camera eh  ..

Rather than start a new topic i,ll carry on this one........i put a nest pan and a few bits of material in the aviary a week ago and ive now got a Goldie hen who has completely ignored the pan but is building a nest in a crappy piece of conifer about 18 inches away from it.......would you just leave her to it or try to strategically place it all in the nest pan ?.....where shes building it doesnt look the most stable of places for a nest but what do i know.
