:big_boss: personally i leave my dogs till around 9 months for i run anything just to make sure they have matured and their bones are strong as i have always be told to wait till plates in their legs have developed properly as it can cause problems later on if something was to damage them. then run them with an excperienced dog. the dog i have at the moment was a 12 month when i had him so run him straight away with my mates saluki greyhound if you let them watch the other dog for a couple of runs then try him if he picks a bit up good if he just wants to run around leave him watch till next time and try him again

I run my dogs as soon as they want to but with caution. My pups run free learning and playing around the farm and start to restrained after they start to chase cows or sheep or killing cats. Then they learn there place. I take them and run them with the older dogs for exercise till they start to run harder than the veterans. Then I take them hunting and let them follow the old dogs on easy runs till they really start to contribute.

my pups are daytime mooching from about 12 weeks then about 5 month a couple of dropped rabbits and at 6 month the odd run on the lamp about 9 month i have them killing rabbits strong till about 11 month then doubled up on hare in a small place at 12 month give them a run single handed on the light on a hare in the right place once they kill the odd hare in the lamp back on bunnys till they hardley miss one then a nice break about 3 weeks to a month off just mooching then back at it. not everyones way of doing things

my pup was 6-7 months when mixy hit us hard and the local fields were crawling with hunched half dead bunnies..........I let the pup have a crack at these on her own.

Shes always been out with experienced dog and now shes 11 months or there abouts and runs very well on the lamp indeed..

only take her lamping once a week at the moment and give her 3 or 4 slips....her tally upto now is 28 so letting her have a look with the older dogs has done here no harm whatsoever.
