OneManAndHisDog 513
Small Jill's for me, hardly any digging but can hold a rabbits if it needs to, can get over a rabbit to bolt it and can get though a purse net but got to admit I do like a small but strong hob now and again? 1 Quote Link to post
rabbit demon 302
I find my hob will clear burrows quicker than than my two jills together. He often kills and would move on without any delay, so you wouldnt know unless you hear the rabbit or he comes out with blood on his nose. Hes big but doesnt show face till the warren is empty so doesnt mess the nets up. Hes great for big warrens only. smaller burrows or hard digging ground i use the jills. They seem to take their time more and are less likely to kill. but saying that my hob has had plenty practice where it was my two jills first season. Quote Link to post

irishnut 297
I've just had more success and luck while working bitches and jills. Probably 98% my imagination though Quote Link to post
RussBoy 77
I see mate. Have to admit I do have less digging when working jills think that's because a rabbit can kick a jill off but a hob has more weight and strength to keep hold. Not sure Quote Link to post
bhawk 64
I dont think its a Hob/Jill decision, but rather knowing your ferrets and using them depending on their working habits and traits, generally i leave the house with 1 hob and two jills, i have two teams like this and like i say, its horses for courses 1 Quote Link to post
