this is how i got my harris lamping and i was shown by to guys who lamp there harris hawks. what you want to do is feed the bird on the fist first in the garden with the lamp shining on the fist then get the bird coming short distances in the garden with the lamp shining only on the glove . then when your confident take the bird out in the field and find a a rabbit that is clamped down and let her see it then she should hopefully put a flight in on it . do that a few times and she will soon get the gist of things she some times might bait of at shadows till she gets used too it,and when your out lamping her and she misses just shine the lamp on the glove and she should come to the glove but dont just take her out on the lamp with out her feeding off the fist first because you might spook her try it in the garden first . she might not like it, i hope this is of help to you there might be someone else who may do it differnt but this is how i was learnt to do it and i have had no probs with it . GOOD LOOK let us now how you get on .

regards wag

yea cant argue with that

but the thng is some people make a big fuss out of trying to get a harris on the lamp !

once flown to the fist on the tourch to the glove should be more than enough to secure the bird on the lamp.

Theres no magic behind it. Just go out and shine the lamp at an easy rabbit first time out- the bird will practically mug it! If it runs follow the rabbit with your beam and bird will follow.

tips; if there is more than one of you make sure the "lamper" is at the front, if the beam gets broken from someone standing in front of light when the bird is in pursuit it will flummax (nice word) the bird.

Also go on your first time when there is little or no moon as the light from a full moon will let the bird see near roosts like trees etc .

You can get flashing lights for the anklets and also make jessies out of the reflective material.

"sean the hawker" helped me out, he's great at lamping birds and i bet he wouldnt mind giving you some tips if you pm'd him.
