hares wanted

I am Cornish born and bred, I grew up in West Cornwall and never saw a hare till I was 17 and that was when I'd left home to work in Devon. There were a few hares about in the odd place or two but it was'nt farming and silage cutting that did for the hare, because I can remember back before silage was ever thought about and everyone still made hay, and there was no hares then. I should think the main reason for the lack of hares in Cornwall was and probaly still is the number of foxes.

And for God's sakes don't anyone think they can just net and sack a hare: they die of shock or smash themselves to bit in boxes very easily when transported: there's a particular method and type of box they need to be in if they are to survive.

I do wish you hadn't put this post up  scared sh*tless someone will try and bag them and end up killing them by accident. Don't do it fellas! If this guy really wants hares like has already been said he should contact Altcar or some other big estate.

Just as a matter of interest: if there are no hares at all down on this farm, is it perhaps because the conditions aren't suitable? Just wondering.

how do you think most of the hare's got to altcar? :hmm:

Sounds an interesting project, lol :hmm: but virtually impossible unless you no what your doing,as everyone hear knows hares die of shock very easily so if trapped they would have to be removed quickly to avoid them dying. And I can imagine it would take a while to trap 10 hares? and for £200 is it really worth it. :icon_eek:

where did you live ? We've put up over twenty hares in a day at cubert and other places, they weren't every where but there was a lot of places they were, including just over the fence behind you mark LOL, put it this way we ran every week, and there are still a few places you can see them now but not many.
