hares wanted

ok i will proberly get shit for this before i start, but the local landowner has been around today and asked for some hares,now down here in cornwall there arnt any and hes asked me for some and offered £200 per 10of which 7 need to be does,he has over 7000 acres and wants these for pure conservation reasons so if there is any takers are givers pm me only,before the shit starts but they need to be delivered to cornwall mark

maybe be easier to find one of them money trees or maybe some hens teeth , lol

just messing mate , be a bugger to cath them id say , try get in touch with the estate manager at altcar i know they have been culling the hares there to prevent poachers , maybe more humane to trap them and send them elsewhere

And for God's sakes don't anyone think they can just net and sack a hare: they die of shock or smash themselves to bit in boxes very easily when transported: there's a particular method and type of box they need to be in if they are to survive.

I do wish you hadn't put this post up scared sh*tless someone will try and bag them and end up killing them by accident. Don't do it fellas! If this guy really wants hares like has already been said he should contact Altcar or some other big estate.

 

Just as a matter of interest: if there are no hares at all down on this farm, is it perhaps because the conditions aren't suitable? Just wondering.

i got asked this same thing last year from someone i know who imports/exports falconry

gear from Saudi he wanted some for export apparently the arabs have a shortage of them

and bunnys i thought he was pulling my leg at the time but, after i had it confirmed

from another person who has dealings in that part of the world that it is true.

you could also try kinmount estate at annan , its also a coursing estate and onec held the annual scottish cup , they have been culling them there too and i know they were involved in moving hares several years ago , not sure if the hares were broughgt in or shipped out but they will be a good source

there used to be several hares in every field at kinmount , but you hardly see them now there a rare sight there nowadays

people do move hares around , on the big coursing estates, but as sky cat said , they dont take to it well.

 

got to say thogh £200 aint very much , especialy if you have to delver to cornwall, and if they come from up north , feck me it would be £100 in fuel.

 

on the up side though, its nice to see that some one wants to encourge the hare in an area where there arnt many. good luck, to you both in your quest. TOMO

There was a lot of hares on some farms at one time, there was also one or two coursing clubs. Your right it was farming that killed them off, as soon as silage cutting started hare numbers started to drop as there isn't so many dairy farms around these days they would most likely do well if they aren't lamped out.

I also have a set of hare boxes some where.

its not me mush,theres nothing worse then a cornish farmer,there tight but the same farmer offered me £3.50 an acre to clear rabbit a yr, hes got a total of 5000 acres,whats the goin price otc i took a bloke of smoochers the other night and theres a lot of rabbits there

Just long net them and place in dark wooden crates, one at a time. We moved scores one year , all alive. Never got a single fatality during the relocation. better than them being shot i reckon, at least they have got a chance.

 

But....from experiences, trying to "bring back" a particular animal where they have previously died out is often a failure in the long term.

I lived in Saudi for 26 years, and owned and worked a Saluki there, also knew many who worked raptors; believe me, your mate was pulling your plonker !!!! Absolutly no way would foreign species be allowed into the kingdom !!! I'm speaking from experience, not hearsay.
