Blackbriar 8,569
Coming up 7 years for me. As has been said, the motivation has to be right. For me, it was an ambulance trip to the cardiac ward, when I was only 45, that focussed my attention. Whatever works for you, find a way, and do it while the choice is still in your own hands ! Sorry if I sound a bit 'preachy'...........

MoChara 1,632
I'd love to quit smoking, but as bird says its a frame of mind you have to be in, and I do not have it as of yet so I know if I tried now I'd fail in a way a let down to myself. I don't drink or anything, so I'm letting myself doŵn by smoking I think. It's the last bad thing I do so to speak. If I didn't smoke I'd be an all round good girl then! your right you wont pack them up (until ) your mind right fact , why don't you say to your self , right I going to treat me self to some new gear, even if its just to walk about in with your animals, or save the money for any vet bills you get, all this money from the cigs you don't by will soon pile up. so give your self a reason to stop and this will be one (your animals) and when you stopped in a year time , if you were not that far from me I pop down and take you for a mid day lunch , that a tester for you , as most people get cold turkey around pubs , etc where food+ drink (socialising) . go for it bird you could make a living doing speeches! (No joke). Your 100% right. With the amount of money I spend on smoking, I'd be able to save and build a good barn or such like - sounds out of reach but it all adds up. I'm holding you to lunch Funny thing I always say my animals come first, so really I'm a hypocrite spending money on smoking

Lid 194
Good on you! As said you got to really want to stop to keep it going. I gave up in 1990 after 10 - 12 years of heavy smoking (20 - 40 a day). It was bloody hard at first, but I wouldn't want to smoke now even if you paid me.
