Guest Dillon
shows have ruined the working dogs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> WE credit the likes of buck breay tyson ect ect with working lines yet everyone of them were regular show goers <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They may have been regular show goers, but in them days it was the only way to meet up with the lads from other areas of the lakes, a bit of craic in the summer months, showing like minded souls what dogs each man kept, I'm not saying they didn't enjoy the shows but they wouldn't give out to them like a lot have. Showing Terriers and working terriers has always been a hotbed of discussion IMO I would agree with Tarmac, and also reckon 90% of terriers at shows these days have never and will never see any work where as thirty years ago the percentage would have been favouring the working element. Isn't it strange when on the other hand 90% of Lurchers at shows DO work. YIS Dillon <{POST_SNAPBACK}> dillon runnign dogs usually go all the time and reqire very little "bringing on " im nto saying they are easily trained as i know a lot of dog men put a lot of time and effort into getting and keeping their dogs fit etc etc just that runnign dogs that dont chase are few and far between.imho ... terriers on the other hand are / can be a pain in the arse to "bring on" other wise noone would have a jacker!!!!!!! yis fellman What I meant Shorty is that most of the lads at shows with lurchers work them where as most of the lads with terriers don't work them. And years ago most of the lads at shows would have worked them, I remember going to a show at the Rugby club in Blackburn around 1988 I know for a fact that a hell a lot of the lads then worked their dogs, I'm not having a dig at the show fraternity I just wish they wouldn't lie about their dogs to sell their pups. Cheers Banty
